Botox

Botox injections are a non-surgical procedure that temporarily improves the appearance of frown lines between the brows of patients, reduce the appearance of crow’s feet, and improve the appearance of lines around the mouth. Botox is a purified protein that relaxes the muscles that are responsible for wrinkles that occur on the face. During treatment, very low doses of Botox Cosmetic are administered via a few tiny injections directly into the muscles that cause stubborn wrinkles on the face, giving you the results that creams, gels, and potions just can’t seem to accomplish!

PRP is a wonderful addition to microneedling. First, a microneedling tool is used to puncture the skin and make numerous holes in the skin’s surface. PRP is then applied to the skin’s surface and allowed to penetrate the holes created by microneedling. PRP can enhance collagen and elastin production in deeper skin levels. Microneedling with PRP effectively treats acne scars, surgical scars, wrinkles, and fine lines, hyperpigmentation, sun damage, large pores, uneven skin texture irregularities, and it helps to decrease the appearance of stretch marks. The addition of PRP to microneedling produces superior results over microneedling alone.

Dermal fillers

Dermal fillers help to diminish facial lines and restore volume and fullness in the face. As we age, our faces naturally lose subcutaneous fat. The facial muscles are then working closer to the skin surface, so smile lines and crow’s feet become more visible. The facial skin also stretches a bit, adding to this loss of facial volume. Other factors that affect the facial skin include sun exposure, lifestyle, and those dang genetics.

What dermal fillers can do:

Plump thin lips
Enhance shallow contours
Soften facial creases and wrinkles
Improve the appearance of recessed scars
Reconstruct contour deformities in the face
Decrease or remove the shadow of the lower lids

What dermal fillers can’t do

For some patients, surgery such as a facelift, brow lift or eyelid lift may be the best approach. Minimally invasive rejuvenation treatments, such as soft tissue fillers, cannot achieve the same results, but may help delay the time when consideration of a facelift becomes appropriate. It is important to remember that dermal fillers are temporary treatments for facial aging and that ongoing treatments will be needed for long-term results.

Types of dermal fillers

There are many brands and types of dermal fillers on the market. Each one comes with specific indications for use and is recommended for a certain application. We keep the most commonly used fillers in stock in our office, however if during your initial consultation we decide a different filler would be better for you it can be ordered and arrives at our office the next day.

Botox versus Filler

The most common question we get asked is……“Do I need Botox or Filler for this?”

The main difference between the two is: Botox relaxes muscle movement and the lines that form as a result of moving, or dynamic wrinkles; fillers replace volume to correct folds, grooves, and creases that are present when the face is at rest. If you’re wondering which one is right for you, the answer is: It depends! We will always do a consultation to discuss your concerns and expectations before you commit to anything.
